Real World Music Industry Education for Emerging Artists

SongLab is an artist development and music industry education program created by

XIXI Music Pro in Los Angeles.

We bring working music professionals directly into the room with emerging artists to share the knowledge, experience, and perspective that typically takes years to develop.

Through conversations, songwriting sessions, production workshops, song critiques, and hands-on industry education, SongLab gives students an opportunity to learn how the music business actually works while developing their own voice as artists and creators.

More Than a Music Class

SongLab is designed to complement the education students are already receiving.

We focus on the areas that are often difficult to learn from a textbook: developing an artist identity, writing and producing songs, understanding the recording process, navigating the music business, preparing music for release, building a career, and learning how to work with other professionals.

Students are encouraged to ask questions, share their work, receive constructive feedback, and participate in honest conversations about the realities of pursuing a career in music.

Built Around Real Experience

SongLab is led by music industry professionals with decades of experience working across production, songwriting, recording, artist development, marketing, music licensing, and the commercial music business.

Rather than teaching from theory alone, we bring real world experiences and current industry practices into the conversation.

Our goal is simple:

Give emerging artists access to information, perspective, and guidance that can help them make better decisions about their music and their careers.

A Flexible Partnership for Your School

SongLab can be adapted to fit the needs of different schools, universities, music programs, departments, and student communities.

Programming can include:

• Artist development and career guidance
• Songwriting and co-writing
• Music production and recording
• Song critiques and listening sessions
• Artist branding and identity
• Music marketing and release strategy
• Music industry education
• Sync licensing and music for film and television
• Understanding publishing, PROs, and music rights
• Working with producers, engineers, managers, and other industry professionals
• Conversations with working music professionals
• Workshops, seminars, and guest sessions

Programs can be structured as a single seminar, workshop, recurring series, or ongoing partnership depending on the school's goals and resources.

Creating Access to the Industry

For many young artists, the hardest part of developing a career isn't finding another piece of information online. It's knowing which information matters, understanding how it applies to their own situation, and having experienced people available to ask.

SongLab creates that connection.

We want students to leave each session with something they can actually use: a better song, a clearer understanding of the business, a new perspective on their creative process, or simply a better idea of what their next step can be.

Explore the Partnership

We've created a detailed Partnership Overview for schools and universities interested in bringing SongLab to their students.

The overview provides additional information about the program, our approach, potential partnership formats, and how we can work together to create programming that fits your students and your institution.
